NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #499 ~ 06-20-26]

Pictured: Johnny Thunders (l.) & The Heartbreakers.
Leee Childers: I started managing the Heartbreakers after Richard Hell left. Johnny Thunders called me and said, “Do you want to help us out? We need to find a bass player, we need to get a gig, we need to get rolling again very quickly.”
So I called my friend Tony Zanetta, who was a huge fan, and I said, “Will you be my partner in managing the Heartbreakers?”
Tony said, “Are you crazy? It’s one thing to sit in the audience and say how fabulous they are, and how they’re the most brilliant rock & roll band ever, but it’s a whole other thing to get involved with them. They’re junkies! Are you nuts?!”
And I thought, Well, that takes care of that. I’m gonna do it.
