NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #482 ~ 02-07-26]

Pictured: Jack Ruby (producer of Burning Spear).
A bit later I went up to the musicians’ room to see if I could talk with Winston Rodney (a.k.a. Burning Spear) for a moment. But when I got to the top of the stairs the door to the room flung open and a semi-comatose Burning Spear, staggering and barely on his feet, lurched forward supported by a pair of his retainers. After the night’s performance there was nothing left of him, and he looked like a gnarled medicine man after some arcane purification rite. Jack Ruby, short, swarthy and barrel-chested, charged out after them and said he’d be back with some of his people the next day. In the musicians’ room Clarence and Alaric were still dipping their pipe. “Ites,” they said amiably. “Iree. Give thanks!”
