To inhabit the Purple Bat Lounge on an optimum Saturday evening, as was the one just past, was to feel life’s crude energy flowing through one’s person…in a particularly dodgy part of town. The air within the bar was colored by music chock-full of vivid and violent ideas. Without, the temperature was conducive to making deals in the back alley, though the reopening of the bar’s Outdoor Patio remains a few degrees distant. It was that peculiar time, winter’s torpor slowly being shed for a hedonistic tilt better suited to warm weather. In other words: Uncle Morty’s truck couldn’t arrive soon enough. DJ’s Reeshard & Lee-Roy did their level best to shepherd the assembled throng — well, those still conscious by 9 pm — through this unstable period, offering the promise of an ultra-violent Blaxploitation twin bill at The Madison in addition to nearly three dozen storming tunes. Hear all this and more, yours for the mere click on a virtual transport button…just…down…there…
