NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #153 ~ 02-03-18]

Ike's Instrumentals

Pictured: Ike Turner & His Kings Of Rhythm.

Last Saturday evening seemed a run-of-the-mill affair, another stretch of time casually murdered by the patrons of the Purple Bat Lounge — albeit done to a great soundtrack provided by DJ’s Reeshard & Lee-Roy. Canny observers might guess this would prove an evening like no other when a tray bearing four Lee-Roy Cocktails™ arrived at the DJ booth, all destined for consumption by their namesake. Then the manufacturer of this copious order, bartender LaWanda (wearing a nurse’s uniform and carrying a syringe of intimidating proportions), descended into the bar’s basement. The Purple Bat’s cellar resembles that cave beneath stately Wayne Manor: few venture down and almost none return. Bearing this in mind, LaWanda’s exit raised questions, as did the news of The Madison’s twin-bill of Slaughter blaxploitation movies. Uncle Morty stopped by, as dependable as Old Faithful, with something that had Lee-Roy embarking on a vision quest of sorts, our pointedly non-spiritual pit bull suddenly quoting lines from ur-midnight movie El Topo. Could things get any worse? Click below to find out. Tune in anyway…
