NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #142 ~ 11-11-17]

The Purple Bat Lounge, that most frabjous spot in an otherwise vorpal neighborhood, doesn’t amount to much when considered by its physical attributes alone. Four walls, the bar (manned by the incomparable LaWanda), a pool table and the DJ booth occupied by Reeshard & Lee-Roy. The street door was nailed shut long ago — the alleyway door, right next to the bar’s vaunted Outdoor Patio, has provided sole access for as long as anyone can recall. There’s a basement as well, but no one talks about that. Given that the decor mostly comprises a pickled egg jar, a few tacked-up pages from old Hilda calendars and a wall-mounted condom dispenser near the Women’s, one could see where hyperbole might expire quickly within the Purple Bat’s confines. Yet the concatenation of weird experiences squeezed into last Saturday evening by DJ Lee-Roy (including our dog’s meditation on the erotic possibilities within TV’s Romper Room) confounded the ability of anyone listening to take it all in. Fortunately, you can experience said evening plus four sets of stormin’ music in the safety of your home, simply by clicking in the right spots immediately below. Tune in anyway…
