NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #122 ~ 05-06-17]
Pictured: Alan Vega
“The future is looking so fine.” This could hardly be the judgement of a sentient being who reads the daily papers, so perhaps it comes as no surprise to learn that Lee-Roy, DJ at the Purple Bat Lounge, thus assessed last Saturday night. Given recent events in his life, perhaps he could be forgiven a burst of optimism. Bartender LaWanda had just handed him a Lee-Roy cocktail (recipe available upon request but, trust us, don’t ask), the Madison announced a twin-bill of Russ Meyer nudie-cutie films, there was our pitbull’s date with a nimble Akita to look forward to, plus an evening’s worth of great music about to unfold. Nonetheless, experience remains the best teacher, no one knowing this better than the dog’s guardian, Count Reeshard. Upon learning of his co-host’s rosy outlook, Reeshard muttered, “This isn’t going to play out well.” And believe us, he knew whereof he spoke. To find out why or, better, to hear four sets of lease-breaking music, click in the right spots below. Tune in anyway…
