NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #119 ~ 04-08-17]

Pictured: Sadistic Mika Band in repose.

Ordinarily no one could accuse NCIP co-host Lee-Roy of being a ‘glass half-full’ kind of pit bull, but on this past Saturday evening he entered the DJ booth at The Purple Bat Lounge brimming over with optimism and cheer. (This, well in advance of Uncle Morty’s weekly curbside appearance, weirder still.) The arrival of a new issue of Paws’n’Gravy, a magazine catering to unusual canine fetishes, may have tipped the scales in his favor. But then Reeshard dropped this week’s Big News: Lee-Roy now has a strain of indica named for him. That was all it took. The balance of the evening was best defined by the title of a compilation lp played early on: Drink Beer! Yell! Dance! It’s almost scary to see someone that happy, especially within an environment whose inhabitants are actively pursuing either hangovers or amnesia…or, more likely, both. There was further good news about a Satanic twin-bill at The Madison and, as you’d expect, an incident in the Women’s (the repairs for which will probably come out of the DJ’s tab). Nonetheless, the bands played on, which you can hear by clicking in the right spots immediately below. Tune in anyway…
