NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #108 ~ 12-03-16]

Pictured (l. to r.): Norton Records’ co-founder Billy Miller (R.I.P.) & Norton artiste André Williams.

As always, the Sunday morning question hangs in the air like the scent of spilled Aperol: How was last Saturday night anyways? Well, none of us were ‘in the awful way’ that Sam Cooke sang about, describing his Saturday. Proceedings at The Purple Bat were tinged with sadness, however, as we’d learned of the recent passing of Billy Miller, a great contributor to American music in general and to N.C.I.P.‘s playlists in particular. Lee-Roy programmed several selections from Norton Records, the label co-founded by the late Mr. Miller (alongside his missus, drummer/author/solo artiste Miriam Linna). Meanwhile, Lee-Roy was gearing up for a hot date to view a most righteous Blaxploitation twin-bill at The Madison.  This latter development something of a surprise, as Lee-Roy had been 86’ed from the theater these past few weeks, owing to some messiness in the balcony. Fortunately Reeshard, legal guardian to said pit bull, straightened things out with the management. Uncle Morty stopped by mid-program to drop off a memento mori of sorts, a canister of Electric Black Mamba, its label bearing the likeness of one of Mr. Miller’s artists, N.C.I.P. patron saint André Williams. And so, as this most tragic of years headed for the exit door, no small amount of fun was had. You can share this too, merely by clicking in the appropriate spots immediately below. Tune in anyways…
