NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #104 ~ 10-01-16]

“For the want of a nail…” Oh hell, I’ve forgotten how the rest of that old saw goes. But trust me when I tell you that last Saturday evening was storming along without a hitch until said nail was indeed wanted. Well, not so much a nail as a new battery for Lee-Roy’s vape pen. During the four extended sets of righteous music selected by the aforementioned pit bull and Reeshard, his legal guardian, a seemingly trifling matter in no time flat assumed something like the importance of this nail so beloved of biblical scholars. Even the arrival of Uncle Morty’s Midnite Mobile Dispensary™ — bearing a canister of old favorite Electric Black Mamba, its label adorned with André Williams’ picture — did little to smooth the waters. Fortunately, two significant distractions manifested in the evening’s course: A spooky yet sleazy double feature at The Madison, and Lee-Roy’s uncomfortably literal invocation of the scales of justice in an effort to elicit listener sympathy for Luxuria Music‘s financial woes. The latter proved messy but effective, like so much of what transpires at The Purple Bat Lounge on a given Saturday. Click in the right spot below and, as you listen, be grateful you didn’t have to see any of it. Tune in anyways…
