Paying tribute is not something we discuss all that often. Mostly because our talking would require someone else to be listening. The patrons at The Purple Bat Lounge don’t mind listening to the cool tunes that Reeshard & Lee-Roy play, but otherwise most of them are too preoccupied with the voices inside their respective heads to bother listening to anything else. Unless, of course, LaWanda the bartender hollers “Last call!” At which point they all start laughing…Where were we? Oh, yes, the tribute business. Last Saturday’s episode paid tribute to the guy who initially devised what we love to think of as ‘the clubhouse vibe,’ an atmosphere hopefully cultivated within every episode of N.C.I.P.. The homage in question began when Uncle Morty dropped off a small canister marked Soupy Sales. After that, everything slid downhill, albeit wonderfully so. We still managed four sets of deeply agreeable music, while talking about the twin-bill of sleazy horror movies playing at The Madison. If you click in the right places below, you’ll figure out soon enough whether or not we succeeded. Tune in anyways…
