NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT [Episode #62 ~ 04-04-15]

Well then, what happened to Eureka Banks? She waited and waited until the church had emptied and then she had phoned Joe’s apartment again and again and had tried in every desperate manner to contact him before she finally gave up and went back to her lower-class lover. But she never did forgive Joe for jilting her. And she put out some very ugly stories about Mamie’s childhood in Pittsburgh, Pa. One had it that Mamie’s father was a white pimp who had conceived her accidentally while changing his luck one day with the colored maid in the whorehouse. Another had it that Mamie was actually the daughter of a white prostitute who had been accidentally knocked up by a Negro trick trying to win a home, and when the white prostitute had moved on to another house in Youngstown, Ohio, she had abandoned the half-black baby to the colored maid. The most vicious seems the one which Eureka could only be persuaded to relate when she was tight, that Mamie’s father was a colored steel mill worker who’d picked up some white tramp and begun living with her. “That nigger used to come home from work every day and stomp up on the porch with his big dirty feet,” Eureka would relate. “And before Mamie’s mama could get the door open that nigger would start hollering as loud as he could, ‘Baby, your twat better be hot!’After she got pregnant she got tired of that nigger hollering every day about her twat better be hot so one day she waited for him with a red-hot poker and blazed that nigger’s ass out of town. The last she ever seen of him he was highballing it toward Erie with a big hole burnt in the ass of his pants.”
